Buying My First Motorcycle
A bookshop that I used to frequent had a bunch of used motorcycle buying guides lying about. Buying a motorcycle wasn’t something I had thought about before, or even been very interested in motorcycles themselves. I wasn't much of a car person either, and I got around very well on my push bike. Nonetheless, one day I started looking through one of these motorcycle guides. I was quite bored and had just finished reading an autobiography and didn't want to start a new book.
I was completely amazed by how beautiful all of the bikes in that magazine were. I immediately started thinking about getting my very own motorcycles. I am impulsive sometimes, and I thought that the desire to buy a motorbike was something that wouldn’t last very long. But when, couple weeks later, I found that I was still thinking about buying a motorcycle, I knew that this was more than just a passing thought. So I started saving in order to buy myself a nice road bike.
Buying a used motorbike is usually the best approach when you are just starting out. I knew nothing about buying motorcycles, so it was good that I knew someone who did. A colleague of mine, it turned out, was a big motorcycle fan, and owned several of them. When I told him that I was thinking about buying motorcycles, he immediately set me down and talked me up about it. He asked me many questions about what I was looking for, and I quickly realized how green I was. He gave me some really great advice and tips on how to pick out a good bike. He even offered to accompany me to the local motorcycle dealer, a friend of his.
At one point, he asked me if I was really serious about buying a motorbike. I was so vague about what I wanted that it seemed to him like I wasn’t really sure about it. I sat down and had a think on it. Did I really want to ride a motorbike if it meant having to pay for insurance and upkeep? Then I heard the really loud noise of a Harley bike driving past, and I felt like it was a sign. I knew that I had to follow through with buying motorcycles, at least to try it out for myself. The very next week, I found the perfect bike to begin riding on. Soon, I had bought it up, polished it , and was all ready to go. I have been riding a motorcycle ever since.
