Ways of investing money while in college - on a budget!
Most college students live on a meagre budget. With the stress of busy class schedules and having to live within their means, most students never consider investing money while studying. Wouldn't it be nice to have more money coming in - than you earn in that part time job while pursuing your degree? You need not have much capital to invest. There are lots of low budget investment opportunities out there that you can look into in hours convenient for you! Let's take a look at some of these opportunities.
Tutoring is done much of the time on a casual basis, producing income with no cash investment. What most students may not know is that it can also become a fully-fledged small business. I’ll give you an example. You start by tutoring one science student. He recommends you to a friend. A professor recommends you to another student. Before you know it your appointment book is full, and your work hours are scheduled at a convenient time. When you've established a following, it's time to form your business entity. Get a business license, a bank account and have business cards printed. You can also branch out with additional services. Maybe move on to the general public as well as students. This strategy for investing money while in college can provide a lucrative income before you're out of school.
If your major is English then maybe this is an option. TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certification is not too pricey and this skill is much in demand all over the world. Advertising is cheap or free. Place ads on craigslist.org; put flyers up at the student union and on local community bulletin boards. It’s a great way to get customers. Again, you schedule lessons within you time frame. Investing money while in college is a wise decision that earns you credibility and income. The experience doesn’t look to shabby on a resume either.
Be imaginative; make use of your qualities. Graphic design students can put up websites for next to nothing, offering logo, book cover and menu design services, along with brochures and business cards. The English major's website can offer proofreading, editing and writing services. Make the most of your skills and build a business that grows with you. Consider forming a consortium with other students to combine skills to your mutual benefit.
You can see how small investments are achievable while in college. You get to choose the hours you work and get a good return on your investment. Your business evolves as you do. You'll have a sizable portfolio in a few years. If you choose not to keep your business, you can sell it!
