Modern Graphic Design Software
Even a little as 20 years ago, for anyone who could draw or sketch freehand and was able to produce something creative, a career in graphic design was pretty much guaranteed. The technology was limited to printing, so those with qualifications in art were usually the ones chosen. It amazes me how much things have transformed since then. Nowadays, you need more skills, namely computer skills and you need to know your way around the graphic design software. Almost every graphic designer I know is extremely computer literate, and ones who get the highest pay checks are those know how to program in flash and html as well. If you want to get into this business, you must learn the technological aspects of it.

There are many software options for graphic design industry, but a few programs have really become the standards. Be willing to pay big money as free graphic design software is not usually top of the line. You have to use programs like Adobe Illustrator, which is expensive.
And believe me when I say they are worth it. Each time I take a look at new ranges in graphic design software, I am gob smacked. Go back just a decade, and you would find that the serious software for graphic designers could only be run on high power workstations which cost an arm and leg. Not any more, however. You can run pretty much any graphics intensive application on a home computer. Light and shadow effects, three dimensional rendering, and all of the other tools of realism that are available are within the range of anyone who wants to shell out required cash for a good graphic design suite.
Of course, if you are just tinkering around, don't throw your money at graphic design software yet. There are plenty of free software trial versions available of all the most popular programs, so you can check out basically anything for free. And to be honest, that isn’t a bad idea. Getting a few different trial programs will prepare you, even if you are a professional graphic designer. Just because everyone else uses a certain program does not mean that it is the best choice for you. Only by seeing what the competition has to offer can you really make a decision about the best professional design software. And all of the tools are so much fun to play with that previewing programs is a treat more than a toy. Every time you look, someone has come out with a cool new effect.
